What is a Giclée print?
All prints are produced as a giclée print (the French word for “squirt”), by ink jet printing. The quality of giclée printing is far superior than any digital printing, and is the best substitute for original artwork.
Artwork scans or photos must be a minimum of 300dpi to be suitable for giclée printing to achieve detail quality similar to the original piece.
Giclée prints also are known for their longevity, and don’t suffer from light damage or ageing like digital prints do. The archival properties are heavily dependant on the quality of paper used. Rest assured, all of my prints are on Hahnemuhle German Etching 310gsm paper, with a velvety matt textured finish.
